Many of my photographs fuse Intense colors—the vibrant lavender of a Bougainvillea blossom, or the glow of neon signs—with moments of cultural or artistic awareness that tap my anthropological training. The final images that emerge from that fusion generally embody my unique vision of artistic beauty merged with the streaming moments of reality that pass daily like a parade before our eyes.

My photos therefore are a means of capturing, then enhancing with sophisticated software editing tools, to create images for sharing with you. I'm a Californian and have spent many summers hiking the high Sierra Nevadas.  My work on recording and studying the Old Spanish National Historic Trail has involved 15 years hiking the Mojave desert in CA and NV.   In other ways my vision reflects my extensive stays in cultures around the world: Europe, China, India, Morocco, Mexico, theCaribbean sea—and of course the United States. Each picture—whether a street scene, a sometimes psychodelic conceptual art photo, the fused vision of a Versailles illuminated fountain, aspen trees in the Sierra, the electric colors and blacks of urban nights—embodies my vision of photography’s special abilities, aided by work at the computer, to fuse culture and color.  

A camera has been strapped to my shoulder for many years as I traveled.  The photos you see on this site capture my vision of the world, cultivated over decades and expressed in today's digital "darkroom."
